Case-Based Learning for Students

CASUS Learning and Assessment

The student dashboard allows students to view and access their courses, cases and performance indicators. Additional material, such as videos, can be provided in the dashboard and students can download their course certificates.

Case-based learning in the form of virtual patients in CASUS are well-structured and offer numerous possibilities to engage the student in the case. Quantitative and qualitative feedback is provided by the author and also in the form of peer responses.

The CASUS exam player provides dedicated assessment options, for example concerning feedback and analysis of student responses. The user interface is similar to learning cases, so that users are already familiar with the functions.

In order to foster clinical reasoning skills training, CASUS is connected with a clinical reasoning tool, which is based on a concept mapping approach. During their case-based learning experience, students are asked to document relevant findings, formulate differential diagnoses, select necessary tests and examinations, and make decisions concerning treatment options in a structured and thorough manner.
