Exam answers are transmitted to an external server. Due to the geographical distance and the related risks, CASUS does not guarantee the safety of the external data transmission.

• Only suitable for exams with very low security requirements

The exam server is situated locally. The functionalities of the server and the infrastructure are verified beforehand. Should the computer fail after the exam candidate has started answering questions, the exam can be continued simply by logging on to another computer. This alternative minimizes the safety risk for data transmissions; however, the risk of a server failure remains unpredictable.

• Only suitable for exams where a server failure would be tenable

The system is configured in a manner which permits proceeding with the exam even if the server or the communication with the server fails.* All actions of the exam candidate are logged locally and compared with the server once the connection with the server is re-established. Due to the double logging procedure, the exam can be continued even if the server fails where the exam candidate has started answering questions. After logging onto another computer, the exam can be continued from the point where it was interrupted. In order to reduce the risk of failure even further, data can also be saved to a USB-stick, providing maximum security in case two of the three available media fail

This is the only option recommended for exams where the safety risk must be reduced to an absolute minimum.
